C-GKBR has been operating for Seaborne since Dec-2009, and is now presumably on it's return to Kenn Borek. This should also probably tie-up the arrival of MSN 287 C-GKBV which flew on the same routing (except southbound) on 17-Sep-2012.

Registered to Ikhana Group Inc., Murietta, CA 20-Sep-2012, and reserved as N808RT the same day to Ikhana Aircraft Services, Murietta, CA. This aircraft has actually been idle & parked at the RWMI/Ikhana Group facility at Murietta, CA (F70) for the past eleven years. It was delivered to Winair in 1977, and sold to JAS Aircraft in October 2000.

851 - DHC-6-400 HB-LPY Zimex Aviation, Glattbrugg

After being delivered from the Farnborough Air Show to Altenrhein, Switzerland on 17-Jul-2012, HB-LPY is now en route to it's contracted base as of 23-Sep-2012. It has flown via Sitia, Greece (LGST) to Aswan, Egypt (HESN) with a final destination of Entebbe, Uganda. Given that, it is likely either joining or replacing sistership HB-LUX (MSN 846) at the Kampala Aero Club & Flight Training Center at the MAF owned airfield at Kajjansi, Uganda.

As expected, the aircraft has finally been officially registered to Air Labrador Ltd., Goose Bay, NL 21-Sep-2012. It had arrived in Goose Bay, NL (CYYR) 18-Jul-2012 on delivery from Springbank, AB (CYBW).

Prior to entering service on contract overseas with ADI the aircraft appears to be doing some training and/or test flying from Pontiac, MI. On 19-Sep-2012 it flew Pontiac-Oakland County, MI (KPTK) to Moline, IL and returned to Pontiac via Wayland, MI (41C) the same day.

 

852 - DHC-6-400 C-FMJO Viking Air Ltd., Sidney, BC

 

Just an update on the changes outlined on 17-Sep-2012 - the aircraft was officially transferred to the U.S. Army - Fixed Wing Project Office in Huntsville (who manages the U.S. Army Golden Knights fleet) on 11-Sep-2012. Although the current location of N752RT is unknown, it is expected to still be with Ikhana in Murietta, CA.

 

Incident Report

 

655 - DHC-6-300 9N-ABQ Tara Air, Kathmandu

21-Sep-2012 The aircraft's left wing struck rocks while accelerating for take-off at Dolpa Airport, Juphal, Nepal resulting in a runway excursion of approximately 50 metres. The Nepalgunj Civil Aviation Office reports (unconfirmed) damage to the left wing, engine and main gear.

The rocky terrain adjacent to the runway can be seen in this video taken from a PAC 750-XL in 2011

852 - DHC-6-400 C-FMJO Viking Air Ltd., Sidney, BC

Cancelled 13-Sep-2012 on export to U.S.A. and assigned 14-Sep-2012 as N752RT to Ikhana Group Inc., Murietta, CA.

 

This aircraft was delivered to the Ikhana facility in Murietta on 03-Jul-2012, had it's Canadian registration cancelled on 10-Jul-2012 (without officially taking up U.S. marks), but was restored as C-FMJO on 31-Aug-2012.

 

It is the first airframe bound for the U.S. Army Golden Knights. Ikhana also has registrations N762RT & N763RT reserved, presumably for the other two aircraft (MSN 862 & 863).

As noted in yesterday's blog entry Viking DHC-6-400 MSN 866 C-FGAL flew Spokane, WA (KGEG) to Victoria, BC (CYYJ) yesterday following painting. Pictured below is C-FGAL arriving in Victoria in Airfast Indonesia colours, courtesy of Brian Maddison. The aircraft carries Indonesian registration PK-OCF under the stickered Canadian reg.

The two Viking Series 400 Twin Otters posed nicely in Cairns during August. Both aircraft are operated by Hevilift on behalf of OK Tedi Mining under their CMCA Communities obligations.

As noted yesterday, C-FBBA has recently positioned to Australia upon completion of it's lease to Sri Lankan Airtaxi. On 09-Sep-2012 the aircraft flew Darwin, NT (YPDN) to Cairns, QLD (YBCS) and is currently residing in front of the Hevilift facility in Cairns.

Below is a photograph of the aircraft arriving in Cairns, and you can see that it has shed most of the distinctive Sri Lankan Airtaxi scheme.

Planned to route Denpasar (Bali), Indonesia (WADD) - Darwin, NT, Australia (YPDN) 08-Sep-2012; C-FBBA had been operating under lease to Sri Lankan Airtaxi since November of 2010. This lease was expected to terminate at the end of August 2012, while the second aircraft (MSN 321 C-GLKB) will reportedly remain in Sri Lanka for several more months.

Has filed for Houston-Southwest, TX (KAXH) to North Little Rock, AR (KORK) today (05-Sep-2012). This aircraft was acquired by Vancouver, BC based Gravitas Aviation on 11-May-2012 and has subsequently been undergoing maintenance in Houston. The departure to Little Rock today is perhaps inidicative of it being on delivery to the new lessor.

 

The other former Carson Services DHC-6 N239Z (MSN 239) which was acquired by Gravitas at the same time arrived at Houston-Southwest on 14-May-2012, and is presumably still present there.

MSN 572 returned to it's birthplace in Canada  as C-GOYX after this photo was taken at Wilson in April of 2012. It was built in 1977 for Schreiner Airways of the Netherlands, but spent the vast majority of it's career in west Africa in support of Schreiner's operations there.

MSN 574 below was built in 1978 for Air Alpes in France, and spent most of the 1980's operating for World Vision International in Africa before joining Airkenya in 1987.

MSN 579 was built in 1978 for Air Tanzania, and was damaged at Dodoma, Tanzania in May-1990. It remained out of service until Jul-1993 when it was shipped to Nairobi for rebuilding by Airkenya.

This aircraft was previously cancelled from the Canadian register 10-Jul-2012 which coincided with the receipt of U.S. type certification the day prior. It had flown to Murietta, CA on 03-Jul-2012 for work by RWMI/Ikhana Group. It is expected to take up U.S. military marks in due course.
