Government of Scotland Secures Two Viking Series 400 Twin Otters

The Government of Scotland has announced the successful conclusion of the tender process to supply two Twin Otter Series 400 aircraft, for PSO (Public Service Obligation) routes from Glasgow to Barra, Tiree and Campbeltown.

Transport Minister Keith Brown indicated "The tender from Viking Air Limited offered the best value for taxpayers' money, as well as meeting all the requirements in terms of quality and delivery time"

The aircraft are expected to be delivered in May 2015. The routes are currently operated by Loganair, whose contract will come up for renewal next year. The Government of Scotland anticipates that by purchasing their own Viking Series 400 aircraft, there will be more competition in the contract renewal process for PSO routes.

The aircraft is pictured below at the Ikhana Group facility in Murrieta, CA back in Feb-2014 carrying its final registration, although it subsequently reverted to N900VK and then to C-GVAT.

Air Tindi begins scheduled DHC-6 service Terrace, BC - Masset, BC

Yellowknife-based Air Tindi, has positioned one of their DHC-6-300 aircraft down to Terrace, BC, which is located about 650nm southwest of the N.W.T. capital.

The aircraft will be used for general charter work, and the launch of a new scheduled route from Terrace to Masset, located in the Queen Charlotte Islands (Haida Gwai). The 128nm route will be flown thrice-weekly and began on 24-Sep-2014.

The aircraft flew from Iquitos to the "Tres Fronteras" border region, landing on the Amazon near Leticia, Colombia and Tabatinga, Brazil for export clearance formalities.

At the moment, OB-1913-P remains in Iquitos pending resolution of documentation issues.

Crashed near Mount Lawes, approximately 20 kilometres from the PNG capital of Port Moresby  20-Sep-2014. The aircraft was en route from Woitape (AYWT/WTP) and there were 3 fatalities.
