244 N244AD Arrives in Bern & Latest Series 400 in Calgary

I'd like to welcome Kenn Borek Air to the page, who have taken the center spot in the Advertisers section at the top. There really isn't any other company that is more synonymous with the Twin Otter than Kenn Borek, so it is great to have them here.

Our advertisers above contain many of the top organizations in their particular fields, and I encourage your support of them. It has predominantly been the advertiser support of this blog that keeps it running and allows me to dedicate the time to prepare it.

N244AD departed Bermuda this morning bound for Santa Maria. At the time of writing it is just under 600nm N/NE of Bermuda.

With MSN 834 N463BA below now back flying again, the number of operational legacy model Twin Otters climbs to 480 aircraft.

The flight plan for N463BA popped up yesterday as it made its way to Fort Lauderdale-Executive, FL. The plan indicated a point of departure as Macon, however it appears to have originated at National Aerotech's base in Hampton, GA.

This aircraft is the former Fuerza Aérea Ecuatoriana FAE-449, which crashed in the Rio Anzu, Ecuador back on 20-Jan-2011. It was subsequently completely rebuilt by National Aerotech.

Judging by the paint scheme, I would expect the destination to be SVG Air of Saint Vincent & The Grenadines.

With thanks to David Baird a couple of shots from Seaborne Airlines in Saint Croix, where we can finally confirm that MSN 339 C-GOKB has taken the place of MSN 617 C-GKBR. The new Twin Otter is carrying a different colour scheme than previous aircraft, with billboard SeaborneAirlines.com titles.

Below C-GOKB are a two shots of C-GKBR, one in the earlier scheme with large registration and Seaborne tail logo, and one in the more recent scheme with smaller registration and Seaborne fuselage titles. C-GKBR departed the Caribbean in early March on return to Canada.

N401JF has departed Burlington this morning on a planned 5 hour trip up to St. John's. After there is it expected to head across to the Azores on its way towards the United Arab Emirates.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

As mentioned in the blog entry for 13-Mar-2014, DHC-6-300 MSN 391 OB-1913-P, most recently operated by Servicios Aéreos de los Andes has been on a fairly leisurely paced ferry flight from Peru to Canada. The aircraft had previously been on floats, based on the Amazon River however the floats were removed in order to simplify the return ferry (although it was flown from Canada to Peru in 2009 by World Wide Ferry with the floats).

Yesterday the aircraft arrived in Calgary, and it was shortly later flown over to Springbank on return to Rocky Mountain Aircraft. Some pictures below, with thanks to both Bill Gavin and Mike MacKinnon.
