883 - DHC-6-400 9M-SSB MASWings, Kota Kinabalu

Left paved surface of runway, and into an adjacent field while landing at Marudi, Malaysia 27-Aug-2016. The aircraft was arriving from Miri, and there were no injuries.

Interestingly, almost exactly a year ago to the day (26-Aug-2015) 9M-SSB was involved in a very similar runway excursion on landing at Mukah, Malaysia. The aircraft in that case was arriving from Miri.

557 - DHC-6-300 9A-TOA European Coastal Airlines, Split

Following successful regulatory inspections, 9A-TOA is expected to return to service tomorrow, 27-Aug-2016 on the Split - Mali Losinj - Pula - Novalja routes. The inspection of the balance of the Twin Otter fleet (and their accompanying documentation) remains underway by the Croatian authorities.

937 - DHC-6-400 C-GVAT Viking Air Ltd., Sidney, BC

Flew Springbank, AB - Olds/Didsbury, AB - Whitehorse, YT 26-Aug-2016 on the start of its delivery flight to Taiwan for Daily Air Corporation. The is the 4th and final series 400 for Daily Air, all of them leased from CAVU Aviation Finance. The ferry flight is being undertaken by World Wide Ferry.

Updating a report from 20-May-2016 regarding DHC-6-300 MSN 302 9N-ABB; the wreckage of the historically significant airframe was sold by Nepal Airlines Corporation to the BP Museum for the price of $1.00 USD. The sale was arranged via McLarens Aviation on 25-Apr-2016. 

The significance of this particular aircraft is that it was not only the first hijacking in Nepal, but it also set in motion a political change in the country. The scheme was masterminded by Girija Prasad Koirala, who later became the country's Prime Minister. The cash looted from an onboard bank transfer of 3 million Rupees (roughly $57,000Cad) was used to to finance an armed revolution to restore a multi-party democracy in the country.

The state of the aircraft below is not as a result of the 10-Jun-1973 hijacking (it went on to serve NAC for 40+ years after) but rather an accident that occurred on 16-Feb-2014.

Continuing towards Taiwan on its delivery flight, C-GUVT flew Whitehorse, YT - Anchorage, AK - Unalaska, AK 07-Aug-2016, and on to Adak 08-Aug-2016.

Another day at the office for DHC-6-300 MSN 601  XA-FIL of Transportes Aéreos Terrestres S.A. The aircraft serves the San Dimas mine in the Mexican state of Durango, for Toronto-based gold/silver producer Primero Mining.
